*New report describes prison rape data collection activities [ [link removed] ] *
BJS has released "PREA Data Collection Activities, 2023. "This report describes BJS?s data collection and developmental activities during 2023 to measure the incidence and prevalence of rape and sexual assault in adult correctional and juvenile justice facilities. These efforts include three independent collections: the Survey of Sexual Victimization [ [link removed] ], the National Inmate Survey [ [link removed] ], and the National Survey of Youth in Custody [ [link removed] ]. Estimates from these collections are not directly comparable. This is the 16th report in an annual series on Prison Rape Elimination Act data collection activities.

"PREA Data Collection Activities, 2023 "(NCJ 308920) was prepared by statisticians within BJS?s National Prison Rape Statistics Program (NPRSP). NPRSP statisticians include Emily D. Buehler, Michael B. Field, Rachel Hansen, Shelby Kottke-Weaver, and Amy D. Lauger.
