John: if you've been with us for a while, you know all about the voter suppression laws passed in states like Florida, Georgia, Texas, and more.
Among the new, suppressive restrictions on drop boxes, mail-in voting, line warming, and other tools that help people vote came another -- tight restrictions on 3rd party groups like ours that help register new voters and deep penalties against 3rd party voter registration groups for their work.
The bad news? It's working. Florida's law in particular has curtailed pro-voter organizations from hiring staff and helping people register to vote. It's also led to a downturn in their fundraising, making it harder for them to do their other work to defend voting rights.
Instead of coordinating volunteers to go door-to-door ahead of the election or sending them to events around these states to help register eligible voters, organizations like ours are stuck trying to figure out how to help people vote without incurring $250,000 fines. It's plainly unacceptable.
John: We fight back against these laws in states like Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia, and more. Pitch in $25 or whatever you can today to defend the right to vote and help push back against these laws in the courts >>
