Oswego is home to over 25 World War II veterans according to the 2022 U.S. Census. Last week we had the distinct honor of WWII veteran Richard "Dick" Miller, 98 years young, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America at the Village Board meeting. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his courage and resilience, including surviving the sinking of the USS Drexler.
Join us in honoring those who served on D-Day, and all veterans, as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy invasion.

The Village, in partnership with the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus (MMC), is working on a housing study. We are seeking feedback from residents through a community survey. The feedback will be used to identify key housing priorities within our community and develop goals for the Village to evaluate housing programs, policies and development outcomes.
We invite all Oswego residents to take part in this planning process by completing the community survey here. The Spanish survey can be found here.

Beware of poisonous hemlock (Conium maculatum), a toxic plant lurking in our Village near fences, roads and fields. This plant may seem innocent with its clusters of delicate white flowers and purple-spotted stems, but don't be fooled! According to the Illinois Extension, poisonous hemlock releases a sap that may cause a painful skin rash and, if ingested, can cause serious health issues.
Get more information to identify and remove poison hemlock though the Illinois Extension.
