Dear Friend,
I’m back in Washington, D.C. after a productive week in San Diego and wanted to share what I’ve been up to – including honoring Memorial Day with our military community and visiting some of the Convoy District’s amazing small businesses.

Securing Big Wins for Our Military Community
I’m proud to represent San Diego’s military community in Congress – and do my part to serve those who have sacrificed so much for all of us. Last fiscal year, I secured big wins for our service members and military families like expanding access to child care, raising salaries for junior-enlisted officers, addressing food insecurity, and more.
And it was great to join Rep. Scott Peters at the USS Midway Museum last week to share all the progress we’ve made. See a full list of everything I secured here.
Commemorating Memorial Day
San Diego is the country’s biggest military community, so we know the human cost of war more than most. That’s why I was grateful to attend Miramar National Cemetery’s Memorial Day Ceremony and the Mt. Soledad Memorial Day Ceremony to remember those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
Investing in San Diego’s Community Colleges
The San Diego Community College District does so much for our community – from opening doors for students of all backgrounds to educating and preparing our next generation of leaders.
That’s why I was so excited to bring home almost $2 million for SDCCD to support the expansion of a new Family Resource Center at Mesa College and to modernize the facilities at Miramar’s School of Public Safety. It was great to visit SDCCD last week to hear from campus leaders about how this funding will improve their lives.
Visiting Small Businesses in the Convoy District
The many small businesses in San Diego help make our community the vibrant place we all know and love. It was so fun to walk around the Convoy District and learn more about its businesses’ history and culture during Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.
And a special thank you to Friend’s House and Sunday Ice Cream for welcoming me in and working hard to serve our community!
