Friend, HAPPY PRIDE! 🏳️🌈
Like a lot of queer people growing up in the 90s, I didn’t see a lot of LGBTQ+ people in positions of power — and most of what I heard from politicians was bigotry and fear-mongering.
I wish I could go back in time to my younger self and show them this — that I would run for Congress as a proud, working-class, queer Latina woman!
I spoke to SGN about my campaign, why I’m committed to building bridges between different points of view, and the effect of LGBTQ+ representation. Please read and share widely!
To me, LGBTQ+ Pride is about living as your true, authentic self in a world that all too often wants to silence, shame us, and make us small.
Pride is especially meaningful this year — not just with my campaign but with the resurgence of hate and violence against the LGBTQ+ community.
The same kinds of politicians that ranted against my right to marry are demonizing queer and trans kids, banning life-saving treatments, taking books with queer characters off of school bookshelves, and passing “Don’t Say Gay” laws that seek to erase our very existence.
I will make history as the first queer Latina in Congress — and I’ll do everything in my power to be visible, to fiercely defend ALL our rights, and embody the LGBTQ+ representation I wish I’d had as a kid.
Let’s do this ✨🏳️🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷🤎

P.S. This is the part where I ask you for a donation. Last month was very tough for fundraising, and we still face a $7,994 budget gap. Can you chip in $6 or any amount to support this historic campaign in the 6th District?
