John,
During my time in the U.S. Senate, I partnered with folks from both parties to introduce legislation to reform our nation’s healthcare system. And, as your next Governor, I’ll work with the General Assembly to make healthcare cheaper and more accessible for Hoosiers.
When I founded my company, I learned firsthand how burdensome healthcare costs can be for small businesses, families, and especially our senior citizens. Sadly, it’s only gotten worse over the years.
The way I see it, two major problems plague our healthcare system today:
- Lack of price transparency
- Rising costs
Often, third-party actors get in the way of the doctor/patient relationship and make it almost impossible for people to figure out how much things cost. And Medicare and Medicaid continue to pay into a broken system that deemphasizes competition.
Until we fix the big players in healthcare to be more competitive and transparent, we will continue to see costs increase, regardless of whether you use private insurance or rely on Medicare or Medicaid.
In Indianapolis, I’ll do everything possible to create an environment encouraging transparency and competition. That way, all Hoosiers will have a better idea of how much healthcare costs and be able to afford it more easily.
Sincerely,
Mike Braun
