Herbert,
As a high school civics teacher, I taught my students about the rule of law: the idea that no one — including our leaders — is above the law. It is an essential part of what makes our democracy work.
Last week's criminal conviction of a former American President — by a diverse jury of his peers — was a historic first and serves as a powerful reminder of this bedrock principle of the democratic values we all hold dear. It's also a time when we, as a country, should continue to stand up for these principles.
Let’s be clear about what this means: Donald Trump can and is still running for President — he's even announced raising $53 million from small donors since the conviction, one of his biggest 24-hour bumps ever. But the verdict proves that Trump and any other politician who breaks the law can be held accountable for their actions.
I'm running for Congress to bring forth a new generation of leaders who are unwaveringly committed to upholding the fundamentals of our democracy — like the rule of law — and delivering for the people.
But I need your help to make that vision a reality.
Can I count on you to help ensure the rule of law and democracy prevail by contributing $5 or whatever you can to my campaign?
