PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND
Two years ago, we were bracing for the worst. The U.S. Supreme Court ruling that would overturn Roe v. Wade had already leaked to the press — we knew it could be released at any moment and throw reproductive health care across the country into chaos.

Now, our fundamental rights are once again before the Supreme Court as we await their decision in two cases that could stop even more patients from getting care. It has me thinking again about those agonizing days two years ago.

Supporters like you made it possible for us to respond immediately to the crisis. And ever since, supporters like you have rallied for our bodily autonomy, contacted lawmakers, and fought day after day to protect, restore, and expand access to abortion.

This is how movements grow, and how change happens. One person at a time, one voice at a time, one day at a time.

It can be hard sometimes to see that growing power until we take a step back. So here are some of the most important ways our movement has grown and made an impact since the Supreme Court eliminated constitutional protections for abortion:

In response to steadfast advocacy from Planned Parenthood organizations and movement partners, the Biden administration took action to defend medication abortion in the courts, protect people's reproductive health privacy, and ensure abortion access for veterans, people serving in the military, patients in need of emergency care, and much more.

Megaphone
More than 1.2 million Planned Parenthood supporters spoke out to protect reproductive rights and access to care — signing petitions, attending rallies, showing up at town hall meetings, and refusing to remain silent.

Believe me, I know how much further we still have to go. Lawmakers at the state and federal levels keep pushing for more abortion bans, restrictions on gender-affirming care, and coming after other essential health care. The courts have been weaponized to undermine our rights and reverse decades of progress.

But it's important to recognize the power we hold, individually and collectively. Change takes time, and movements are grounded in hope — we have to be ready to take on these enormous challenges with courage and conviction.

I'm going to need you to stick with Planned Parenthood Action Fund as we take on some big fights and face some big challenges.

Here's what we will be facing in the days and months ahead:
Notebook
  • U.S. Supreme Court rulings on medication abortion and emergency care.
  • The threat of a national abortion ban.
  • Hostile lawmakers at all levels of government unveiling new attacks on abortion, birth control, IVF, gender-affirming care, and more.

In this role, I've always cherished the moments when a Planned Parenthood Action Fund donor comes up to me and tells me how long they've been a part of this community — and why. It inspires me to keep going.

Every person who joins us in this work is helping build the future we deserve, where everyone has access to the care they need — no matter who they are or where they live. We are going to need every bit of that strength to take on the work ahead. Thank you for being a part of that.

Sincerely,

Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO
