Gaza: Escalating hostilities
over the past eight months have created a dire humanitarian crisis. About 75% of the population is displaced, sheltering in makeshift tents without access to clean water and adequate sanitation, heightening health concerns. Since October, Americares has delivered 19 tons of essential medicine and medical supplies, including enough medicine to fill over 200,000 prescriptions. Recently, Americares provided a grant to a trusted partner organization that will support healing and resilience activities for approximately 1,500 children in Gaza impacted by the ongoing displacement and violence. Our continued support in Gaza is vital to saving lives and easing the suffering of those affected by the ongoing conflict.
Brazil: In early May, catastrophic flooding claimed at least 161 lives and left 82 people missing. Over 600,000 individuals have been displaced, with tens of thousands still in shelters. Americares has received requests for assistance to support mobile medical teams and distribute critical relief supplies to help those impacted by this disaster.
Zambia: Zambia experienced a recent nationwide cholera outbreak. Cholera is a deadly diarrheal disease often caused by poor sanitation and lack of clean water. In response, Americares sent an emergency shipment of medical supplies to help fight the spread of this deadly disease. |
