Today marks just 5 months until Election Day. If we’re going to defeat my right-wing opponent, defend this competitive seat, and win back the U.S. House, then we can’t slow down on our work.

But if you’re not yet convinced, and need some more information about why this race is so important, then here are five reasons I’m asking for your support today:

1. There aren’t many folks like me in Congress. I joined the Navy after 9/11 and served in Iraq. After returning from Iraq, I got my law degree and helped lead election security efforts at Pitt. At Pitt, I was a part of the Pitt Faculty Organizing Committee with the United Steelworkers, and we fought successfully for a union. I fight every day in Congress so that every Pennsylvanian can pursue their dreams too.

2. I actually get sh*t done for Pennsylvanians. In Congress, I’ve been delivering for my region: federal funding, protections for workers, and more. And I’ve been holding the line against extremist Republicans, always fighting to lower costs for working families, create good-paying union jobs, protect women’s reproductive rights, and make corporations pay their fair share.

3. If we lose, I’ll be replaced by a radical, right-wing Republican. My opponent is a right-wing extremist who would vote to ban abortion, has attacked gay marriage, supports the Big Lie, and has voted to restrict voting rights.

4. We could risk our chance to take back the House. This race is one of the most competitive races in the country, so if we lose this seat, we risk losing our chance to take back the House.

5. Frankly, we’ve got our work cut out for us. Republicans and their corporate bosses are dead set on kicking me out of Congress. In fact, nationwide Republican are *already* running an attack ad against me! So if we’re going to defend this seat, we’re going to need some serious grassroots support.
