LANSING ? Krystal Davis, 37, of Detroit, pled no contest Monday to one felony for operating as an unlicensed accountant and two misdemeanors for operating as an unlicensed real estate agent, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Davis' plea, to one count of Accounting Violations-Unlicensed CPA and two counts of Occupational Code-Unlicensed Real Estate Agent, accompanies a sentencing agreement extended by the Court, stipulating an expected sentence of 18 to 24 months' probation. The Department of Attorney General charged Davis in February. ?
?Michigan residents deserve peace of mind knowing the professionals they rely on for business and financial guidance are licensed and qualified,? Nessel said. ?My office remains committed to safeguarding consumers by investigating and prosecuting those who breach the public?s trust by operating without necessary licenses.???
Davis, who operated using the business of Card Property Management, LLC, entered into a contract with the owner of two residential properties in Detroit to provide property management services, including determining rental rates, marketing the properties, selecting tenants, collecting rent, and handling evictions.? Davis was not licensed in the state as a real estate broker or real estate salesperson, as would be required by law to furnish such services. Card Property Management, LLC, a limited liability company, was the assumed name of Card Enterprises, LLC, which is similarly not licensed to provide real estate services.???
Davis also told another person that she was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the context of electronic communication soliciting business from that person to prepare their taxes. Davis was not licensed in Michigan as a CPA.????
Davis will be sentenced on July 15th at 8:30 am before the Hon. Bradley L. Cobb in the Third Circuit Court in Wayne County.? ?
