Founded in 2006, Sonke is a women’s rights organisation that is committed to feminist principles, using a rights-based and gender transformative approach to achieve human rights and gender justice. Our vision is a poverty-free world in which women, children, men and gender non-conforming individuals enjoy equitable, caring, healthy and happy relationships that contribute to the development of gender just and democratic societies. About the Position
The role of the Coordinator is to facilitate and coordinate implementation and ensure completion of specific project deliverables by ensuring consistency with the project description, project workplan, budget and Sonke’s strategic plan and operational plans. The coordinator will oversee the day-to-day activities of the two subgrantee CBOs in the catchment areas.
The Coordinator will also work closely with the IMS team guided by the CEM Program Specialist to implement measures to prevent new HIV infections and contribute to the prevention and response to Gender Based Violence. This is achieved through training and mentoring of community action team members, partners, working with men, boy, women, girls, and non-gender conforming persons in the target areas to reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDs. Furthermore, the Coordinator will work with partners to by reduce new HIV infection and STIs, increasing the uptake of HIV services targeting men, and challenging the gender inequalities that exacerbates the spread and impact of HIV and AIDs.
