After tonight’s primary win, it’s time to gear up for November

It’s official, Indivisibles:

Once considered a long shot, Andy Kim will now be New Jersey’s Democratic nominee for the US Senate 🥳 This is a monumental win, not only for the people of the Garden State, but the whole country.

Congratulations Andy Kim - New Jersey's Democratic Nominee for US Senate

If you’re ready to get to work electing a true Democratic trifecta in November, register for our Majority Over MAGA Weekend of Action Kickoff call on Thursday, June 13 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Whether you’ve been following this race or this is the first time you’re tuning in, we cannot overstate how celebration-worthy tonight’s news truly is. Andy built a winning grassroots coalition and overcame all the obstacles this race put in his path including:

  • Outmaneuvering the party’s anointed front-runner -- Tammy Murphy, the governor’s wife
  • Pulling out a surprise victory at the first state convention in Monmouth County
  • Taking down the corrupt machine’s county line ballot

But this win isn’t just about Andy Kim or about the incredible trajectory of his campaign -- it’s about the power of Indivisibles to change the outcome of this race. It’s a truth we’ve seen time and again across the country: When Indivisible groups get behind a candidate in a tangible way, they become an unstoppable force for that candidate.

The story:

New Jersey Indivisibles backed Andy Kim early in this primary because they recognized his dedication to pro-democracy values. In fact, endorsing Andy Kim was one of the first official actions taken by New Jersey’s statewide network, Indivisible One New Jersey (IONJ). IONJ saw the rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity to elect a principled public servant whose actions and values are aligned with voters across New Jersey, and reject the deep corruption and self-enriching schemes of their incumbent Senator Bob “Gold Bars” Menendez -- currently on trial for federal bribery changes.

The network generated so much energy and enthusiasm for his candidacy that a statewide endorsement was inevitable, and we were proud to announce our national endorsement alongside IONJ’s. Since then, IONJ mobilized for weeks to talk to voters, deepen connections between members, level up their activism, and learn how to be more effective agents of change at the local, state, and federal level.

This was all possible because of the unifying power elections can have on us all. Even in the face of corrupt political machines, the candidates they anoint, and the anti-democratic systems they create, when Indivisibles come together, our power is undeniable.

But this race is far from over. Disgraced Senator Menendez is not backing down, and just filed to run in the general election as an independent. We know he’s only running to cover his legal bills, not out of a sense of duty to the people of his state, and New Jersey simply deserves better. But the stakes are high this November, and alongside so many other races across the country, we cannot take any chances -- we must do the work now to ensure we win a true trifecta this November. Here’s what’s next:

  1. First, RSVP for the Majority over MAGA Weekend of Action Kickoff Call on Thursday, June 13 at 8pm ET/5pm PT. We’ll be joined by a VERY special guest to help kick off our general election program and get ready for our upcoming Weekend of Action. Join the kickoff call to hear specifically about how we’ll be highlighting the ongoing fight for reproductive rights this election year.
  2. Check to see if Neighbor2Neighbor is available in your area. Neighbor2Neighbor is Indivisible’s highly effective, community conversation program, and pre-registration is open now. To defeat MAGA and protect our rights and our democracy, we’re going to need to organize every voter we possibly can. If you want to have the biggest impact on voter turnout, this is the most effective way we’ve found to mobilize community members (our numbers prove it).
  3. Sign up to call, text, postcard, and more through our new Majority Over MAGA: State to State resource. No matter where you live, this State to State page will be our home for all of the other resources and strategies that will power us to a true democratic trifecta that will codify reproductive freedoms and enact democracy reforms. Check this page to learn about phonebanks, textbanks, postcards, reimbursements, and more that will be the backbone of our 2024 election program.

Congratulations again to Andy Kim and his campaign, and to all the remarkable Indivisibles and activists in New Jersey who were audacious enough to go against the odds and pave the path for this moment. Tonight’s win is yours -- the shift from improbability to inevitability in Andy Kim's Senate candidacy is a testament to the remarkable power of grassroots organizing. Together, you’ve accomplished the unthinkable and given us hope that people power will always win.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

P.S. Andy Kim is just one of our endorsed candidates this cycle. We’re planning a nationwide voter contact program to reach as many voters as we can to defeat MAGA and elect these pro-choice, pro-democracy champions -- and as a grassroots movement, we rely on small donations like yours to make it possible. Click here chip in $10, or whatever you can, to fund the tools, ads, canvassing supplies, and everything else it’ll take to win in November.
