Dear Partners,
In a few short weeks, Congress will return to take action on “phase 4” legislation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please join Families USA in our comprehensive sign on letter ([link removed]) calling on Congress to ensure that all people in our nation can get the care they need to stay healthy. The deadline to sign on ([link removed]) is April 21st at 5pm EDT.
Through this letter, we are pushing Congress to advance specific policies in the legislation that will:
* Ensure access to affordable health insurance coverage for all.
* Provide states, localities, and tribes with the financial support they need to respond effectively.
* Protect the health and safety of the health care workforce.
* Organize national public health capacity.
* Protect all patients’ access to care and prohibit price gouging of health care services.
To learn more about these policy opportunities and how advocates can get involved, we invite you to join our webinar this Friday, April 17th at 1pm EDT, COVID-19: State Opportunities and the Next Federal Response Package ([link removed]) . We will also highlight upcoming and on-going opportunities for policy change at the state level, and answer your questions about improving access to health coverage and care at the state and federal levels during the pandemic.
Finally, please continue to use our story collection form ([link removed]) to help us connect policymakers and media with people whose COVID-19 stories need to be heard.
To your health,
Lisa Hunter,
Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships
