The Grateful Dead, forever timely and timeless, know that to be successful in the streaming age, bands need to continuously post new content—sometimes song by song as opposed to dropping a whole album at once. To promote their forthcoming “From The Mars Hotel (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)” due out in a couple of weeks, they have released a version of Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo live from the University of Nevada in 1974. According to the Dead’s archivist David Lemieux, this track comes from the first road concert featuring the band’s famous “Wall of Sound” PA system. Sure sounds good to me.
