John,
The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is hosting a historic gathering of poor people, workers, and our advocates to demand that candidates for public office in 2024 support a moral public policy agenda that includes living wages, voting rights, and other essential policies that lift from the bottom.
Join us on June 29th for the Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington D.C. & to the Polls
The Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington D.C. & to the Polls will center the testimonies of poor and low-wage people and launch a call to wake the sleeping giant of millions of poor and low-wage infrequent voters to vote in the 2024 U.S. elections.
It is intolerable that we live in a country where 800 people a day lose their lives due to poverty and low wealth. In one of the wealthiest nations in the world, abandonment amidst abundance is not as good as it gets. We will continue to mobilize and organize until everybody’s needs are met, because everybody has the right to live.
Directly following the gathering, the Poor People's Campaign along with our partners will kick off a mass voter mobilization and outreach effort to 15 million poor and low-wage infrequent voters across the nation. The campaign will demand that those running for public office embrace a “moral fusion” 17-Point Agenda, which includes:
Poor People’s Campaign 17-Point Agenda
Abolishing poverty as the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S.
A living minimum wage of at least $15 +/hour (indexed for inflation)
Full and expanded voting rights
No more voter suppression
Guaranteed workers’ rights & labor rights
Healthcare for all
Affordable, adequate housing
Strong social welfare and safety net programs
An end to gun violence, profit and proliferation
Fully protected women’s rights
Environmental justice that secures clean air & water
Justice for all Indigenous nations
Fully-funded public education
Just immigration laws
Addressing militarism and the war economy
Standing for peace not war; an immediate cease fire in Gaza that allows humanitarian relief, the release of all hostages, and peace with justice; and an end to genocide around the world
An end to hate, division, and the extremist political agenda
