Dear Friend,

Unless things change quickly, a Planned Parenthood-style sex education program will be forced into a public middle or high school near you, compliments of the left-leaning cabal of bureaucrats at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).

Over the past year, NCDPI oversaw the revisions of the North Carolina Essential Standards, including those standards that govern sex education. Standards set the goals and directives of what is to be taught in North Carolina schools and are revised only every 10 years. The third and final draft has been issued by NCDPI, and this week the Standards will be up for final approval by the Democrat-controlled State Board of Education for final passage.

The big problem is the current draft of the Standards violates state law. <[link removed]>

The long-standing N.C. law, enacted in 1995, requires that any instruction teach abstinence from sexual activity outside of marriage as an expected standard of behavior. The instruction must teach students how to remain or become abstinent, and the emotional and psychological adverse consequences of engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage.

Draft 3 of the Standards ignores these requirements and, ultimately, will harm our children.

The objections to the draft standards were loud and clear.

Hundreds of you took the time to submit public comments overwhelmingly supporting removal of the provisions that violate state law. Lawmakers weighed in by letter and phone calls expressing similar objections to the standards. Members of our team held two in-person meetings with Superintendent Truitt and her staff, as well as several phone calls to discuss the deficits with the proposed standards. Truitt made assurances that the standards would be corrected to comply with the statute.

Yet here we sit nine months after the first objections were lodged with the same old bad standards that fail to meet the requirements of the statute. Unfortunately, you, the experts, and the legislators were ignored. To learn more about the issue, check out our my op-ed here <[link removed]>.

📗 We need to make our voice heard, directly. Here's two ways you can help:

1. Click-to-contact: If you have a minute, would you consider clicking here to use our easy and time-saving click-to-contact tool <[link removed]> to send an email to the voting members of the NC State Board of Education asking them to vote AGAINST the Standards revisions?

2. Attend the meeting: We would like to have an overwhelming presence at this meeting to pressure the board to vote AGAINST the Standards. Please consider joining our Wake County Coordinator, Audrey, and wear a sticker to support protecting our children. RSVP to [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>.

Thank you for helping us protect our children.
