Fellow American,
I never imagined that a video call would be an important part of our holiday celebrations.
For many Americans, holidays like Easter and Passover are marked with gathering for a religious service, for a family dinner, and for the traditions we grew up with and are now passing on to our kids and grandkids.
But although the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is keeping us apart from loved ones, we have found new, creative ways to come together and stay connected on our most important days.
That could be a holiday dinner shared through a phone or laptop screen. It could be a handwritten card or a long phone call or a scheduled video chat -- or even long-distance book reading, movie watching, or cooking lessons.
But no matter what form it takes, the goal is the same: to stay connected with our family, near or far, because our family strengthens, renews, and supports us, especially in these uncertain times.
This month, the American Principles Project has put a special focus on strengthening American families so we can navigate these challenging times with hope, rather than fear. I hope you and your family will join in this project with us.
Check out the activity ideas that the American Principles Project has shared on social media and contribute your own, too.
You’ll see a home video my family and I created in the style of the Full House TV show opening credits (yes, we’ve even got the music going) -- and lots more fun, creative ideas for how to connect with your family this month.
This unprecedented time has shown us that our families have never been more deeply needed for support in our lives … but sadly, they’ve never faced greater strain in our culture and greater threats from local, state, and federal government policies.
The daily work of the American Principles Project -- and your support, as a pro-family activist -- is to protect children, to empower parents, and to defend the American family in our culture and at the state and federal level.
Our shared efforts are essential to the challenges that may be ahead of our country, which is why the American Principles Project is open for business and hard at work, albeit from a safe distance, during these uncertain times.
I’ll be in touch soon with important updates about government policies and news that affects you, me, and our families -- along with what steps you and I can take to support all American families.
Until then, I hope to see you (and your family!) joining in on our activities this month as we navigate these uncertain times in hope, not despair, and bring our families even closer together.
