Hi there, it’s Deborah Ross.

70 years ago last month, school segregation was declared unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court. This came as a huge blow to North Carolina segregationists who attempted to use taxpayer money to fund all-white private schools.

You would think this would remain a relic of the past. It was unacceptable then and it is unacceptable now.

But North Carolina Republicans aren’t on the same page. They are taking taxpayer money away from public education to use on school vouchers for private schools. Sound familiar?

Public education is one of the most important cornerstones of a functioning democracy. Funding public education means giving every single North Carolinian equal opportunity to succeed. Republicans want to take that away.

That’s why it’s so important for us to support leaders who will advocate for public education. I’m proud to invest in and fight for quality public education every single day right here in North Carolina.

I just started a petition to show our support for quality public education and the leaders who fight relentlessly to protect it day in and day out. Will you take 30 seconds or less to add your name today?

Thank you,

Deborah

In 2020, Deborah became the first Democrat in over a decade to be elected to represent North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional district. In her first term, eleven pieces of legislation she introduced were signed into law. These measures increased funding for sexual assault nurse examiners, enhanced judicial ethics and transparency, and bolstered North Carolina’s offshore wind energy potential. Deborah needs your support to continue the fight for fairness, equality, and progress. Let’s do this together.
