A powerful op-ed from Admiral William McRaven urges our leaders to put aside their differences and come together to govern.
Dear supporter,
As we navigate the most divisive election of our lifetimes, in which too many on both sides believe the other poses an existential threat to the country, all Americans have a choice to make.
When this election is over, do we want leaders in Congress to engage in a constant resistance against the winning candidate, further dividing Americans and refusing to solve problems?
Or do we want leaders who appeal to our better angels—who accept the election results, work with the next president no matter who it is, and call on both parties to do the same?
To all of us in the No Labels community, the answer is clear.
This sentiment is shared by our friend, Admiral William McRaven, who just wrote an an op-ed ([link removed] ) in the Washington Post that should grab the attention of every American. He calls for both parties to rise above the pettiness and vulgarity surrounding this election:
On the left, stop the gloating, the ugly memes, the public rants, the late-night roastings and the political vitriol. On the right, respect the legal verdict, support the jurors, fly your flag with honor and find a way to bridge the political divide. There are thoughtful, reasonable, genuinely good men and women on both sides. Let them speak for America.
You will be hearing No Labels echo the Admiral’s words in the weeks and months ahead. As both parties try to delegitimize and demonize one other, we will be calling on both sides to accept the outcome of the election and work with the next president.
Your input is vital. Do you support our strategy to urge members of Congress to work with the next president, regardless of who wins? ([link removed] )
