Hi John,
This is the final week of New York State’s legislative session, and we need your advocacy to make sure that every child and working family in New York has access to quality child care. Momentum is building around two crucial bills:
A.4099-A/S.4667-A: Would provide families access to child care assistance while their applications are processed, making sure that parents don’t lose job opportunities and children reap the full benefits of continuous care.
A.8878/S.8152: Would decouple child care assistance from work hours, helping working parents, especially those in the gig economy or with fluctuating schedules, access essential child care. Despite overwhelming support from the Legislature and inclusion in the one-house budgets over the years, in 2023 this bill was vetoed by Governor Hochul and excluded from the final budget.
Here’s how you can take action:
Send an email: Use our easy-to-use email template to show your support for these bills.

Make calls: If you’re unable to join tomorrow’s relay, use this script to call on support from our state leaders.
Universal child care is a critical aspect of justice across our public education system and a broader fight for racial and economic justice. With just days left of this year’s state budget fight, your actions have the power to move New York State closer to having truly universal child care and a public education system that works for all our children.
