Organized by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, the Volunteer Recognition Program honors individuals who have generously dedicated their time and effort to make a lasting, positive impact on their community.
These devoted volunteers were recently celebrated at this year's Volunteer Recognition Reception, held at the Italian American Cultural Society. During the reception, the Commissioners recognized and honored 26 Outstanding Volunteers, from which one Senior Volunteer of the Year had been chosen and was announced. This marked the 35th year of the Macomb County Volunteer Recognition Program, which is held in the spring in conjunction with National Volunteer Month. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all the volunteers recognized this year. Your exceptional service makes our community a better place for everyone.

On Monday, April 22nd, local students and educators were honored at the 2024 Tri-County Green Schools Recognition Ceremony at the Detroit Zoo. During the event, the Macomb County Board of Commissioners joined Oakland and Wayne County officials in acknowledging the recycling and environmental efforts made by these Green Schools. Also announced was the Macomb County Green Schools Designations for the 2023/2024 cycle. There are 81 Green Schools representing Macomb County this year. To view this list, click here.
The recognized schools not only remained committed to green education, they also showed their creativity in implementing the 'green' curriculum, demonstrating the deep-rooted nature of the Macomb County Green Schools program. We are proud of all our Green Schools' efforts!
The Boards of Commissioners from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties are very pleased to announce that the 2024 Tri-County Summit will be held on October 4, 2024 with the continued theme: "Moving Forward. Moving Together." In addition to expanding on the issues discussed at our previous events, the 2024 Summit will focus on environmental issues such as disaster planning and climate change, as well as sustainability and regional transportation.
