Friend,
Earlier this month, the U.S. recognized Equal Pay Day —
when women symbolically “catch up” to men’s average earnings from
the previous year.
On average, women still only make 80 cents for every
dollar their male counterparts earn. This number is even lower
for women of color. We are far past due for a change.
Washington is leading the way on this issue — we expanded
our existing equal pay legislation last year to include a ban on
salary history, and to require disclosure of salary ranges. It’s
beyond time for the rest of the nation to follow suit by passing
equal pay legislation at the federal level. Sign on if you agree

It’s more than just a paycheck. As the gender pay gap
persists, with even wider gaps for women of color and transgender
women, the economic security of millions of women and their
families is at risk.
Progress has been made in Washington, but there’s more work
to do in our home state and across the nation.
Thank you for adding your name and taking a stand.
