Last month, the Republicans nominated a candidate to run against me this November. I recently had the chance to read one of his first interviews since being nominated. My jaw dropped when I read this part:

“If elected, he said he would become a member of the U.S. House Freedom Caucus…”

You read that right. Yes, that’s the same Freedom Caucus that boasts Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan, and Lauren Boebert as members. The same Freedom Caucus that enrages even fellow Republicans by sowing chaos on the House Floor. The same freedom caucus that kicked out Marjorie Taylor Greene as a member because she was too pragmatic .

What’s happened to the traditional GOP of Fairfield County? When did the Connecticut Republicans embrace the platform of banning books [[link removed]] and flying the American flag upside down? [[link removed]]

Here’s a photograph from Justice Alito’s front lawn – President Reagan would never have tolerated this affront to our flag.

The Republican Party has taken a turn, and extremism has gained new adherents in Connecticut. I’ve watched as MAGA gained ground in Washington, but seeing Trumpism arrive close to home is something else altogether.

Let’s send a strong signal this November that F airfield County is no base for the Freedom Caucus. Our community values compassion and common sense, not cultism and chaos. Can I count on your support? [[link removed]]
