John,
Last week I told you about a little “joke” Lauren Boebert made almost a year ago about climate change.
Apparently she still thinks it’s funny, because a few days ago she repeated it at the Republican debate:

It’s no surprise to me that Boebert treats an existential threat to our national security like a joke. She treats veterans like a joke, too – voting against us over 15 times.
Well, I’m not laughing – and neither are the voters of CO-4.
That’s why I’m polling 14 points ahead of Boebert and that’s why, with your support, we are going to beat her in November. [[link removed]]
Please donate today and share this message with everyone you know who wants to get Boebert out of Congress.

Subject: Climate security is national security
John,
“I will go on the record with you all tonight and say that I absolutely believe in climate change. It happens four times every year.”
That’s a joke Boebert made last summer while Americans were living through the hottest summer on record. Personally, I don’t find it funny at all.
We could explain to Boebert that climate and weather are not the same thing, and that climate change is the cause of these extreme fluctuations in weather.
Of course we might not have to explain that if she bothered to listen to the Colorado cattle ranchers who are having to sell off their herds due to droughts caused by global warming.
But as a decorated, combat-wounded Marine, my biggest problem with Lauren’s little wisecrack is not that she has no idea what she’s talking about, it’s the fact that Lauren Boebert claims to care about our military and keeping our country safe while cracking jokes about one of the greatest national security threats we face.
That’s not my opinion, that’s the official assessment of the Department of Defense. Pentagon research has concluded that environmental degradation, social tensions, political instability, and global conflicts are increasing because of climate change.
It’s been 10 years since the Pentagon first declared it a major national security issue. Three years ago, they upgraded that threat level to an existential crisis .

In other words: this ain’t new information, and I expect a member of Congress to damn well know better.
I’m running for Congress because I KNOW the climate crisis is serious and we need serious people who will fight for real solutions. Help me give Boebert the boot this November and flip CO-04 with a donation to our campaign today. [[link removed]]

The bottom line is that climate security is national security.
It’s impacting our food supply, wrecking communities with floods, wildfires, and droughts – and driving good hardworking Americans out of a job.
But we can fix this. I’ve seen our country do incredible things when we set our minds to it, and I know we can rise to this challenge and save our planet.
I take the climate emergency seriously, and I know you do, too. This is about the safety of our families and the security of our futures. That’s why I’m in this race, and I’m glad to have you on the team with me.
