The Nebraska Floodplain and Stormwater Association was founded in 2005 by a group of professionals interested in floodplain and stormwater management in Nebraska and later became the Nebraska State Chapter of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). Some goals include:


* Promoting public awareness
* Promoting cooperation and information exchange
* Providing educational and professional seminars
* Providing information on pending legislation, funding and related matters
