Team, we have great news to share! May was a big month for New Politics endorsee primaries, so without further delay here are our candidates moving to the general election!
In Indiana House District 88, Stephanie Jo Yocum won her primary to become the nominee on the Democratic ticket. A daughter of a school teacher and a police officer, she proudly followed her parents’ example of public service by joining AmeriCorps after college. Her AmeriCorps experience led to a 20+ year career in public service in leadership roles for large non-profits focused on healthcare and education. Stephanie Jo is also the Chair of the governor-appointed commission on volunteerism and service, Serve Indiana, and a member of Chief, a national network focused on connecting and empowering executive women leaders.

Phil Olaleye won in the primary election for Georgia House District 59. Phil grew up in an immigrant and working-class family in Stone Mountain, GA. He then joined the Peace Corps and spent three years helping the indigenous communities in the Phillippines. After that, Phil has grown a 50-student non-profit into one that serves almost 350 students across four Atlanta high schools and partners with 70 local colleges and companies to create exposure and mentorship opportunities for our young people.
Now, he’s looking forward to using his service experience to transform his community as Georgia’s next 59th House Representative. You can support Phil here!
Saira Draper won her primary race for Georgia House District 90. Saira is a civil rights attorney, voting rights advocate, and community leader with experience in the corporate, non-profit, and political sectors. She is running for re-election in Georgia House District 90 because she is passionate about voting rights and ensuring that every Georgian can make their voice heard. Saira was the director of President Biden’s voter protection operations for the State of Georgia in 2020, and she served in the same role for Senators Warnock and Ossoff during the 2021 U.S. Senate runoff.
