Love is love!
Happy Pride Month, John!
Pride is a time to celebrate the immense progress we have made to secure the rights of people to love as comes naturally to them. While we take a moment to applaud the sacrifices that it took to get here and celebrate how far we’ve come, we also must keep our eyes on institutions that want to see those rights walked back.
Last year, I was quick to condemn the Supreme Court decision on 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, where the Court ruled in favor of an evangelical Christian web designer from Colorado who refused to work on same-sex weddings. This ruling was despicable — a full-on assault on LGBTQ+ people in America.
As Republicans continue their quest to eviscerate LGBTQ+ rights, nearly half of LGBTQ+ Americans report feeling unsafe in their own country. The Human Rights Campaign has declared a “state of emergency” for the LGBTQ+ community in America and the United Nations has expressed concern “at the increase in the number of state laws that severely restrict the rights of persons on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
We have got to fight back – that’s my motive in the Senate. Here’s what’s on my to-do list to defend and advance LGBTQ+ rights in the Senate:
- Vote to finally pass the Equality Act, which would ensure that civil rights laws — like protections against discrimination in employment and housing — apply to sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Support efforts to end the hateful practice of so-called “conversion therapy”
- Fight to strengthen anti-harassment policies on school and college campuses.
So today I’m not just asking for donations for my campaign. I’m asking you to help me see the critical goals on our to-do list through to the finish line. Sign my petition to show your support for LGBTQ+ rights this Pride Month.

With your support, we can get these three important things done — and more!
