Solidarity with Ghana, shame on BlackRock

Hello friend,

I’ve just come back from the London office of financial giant BlackRock – one of Ghana’s biggest private lenders. That’s me below, behind one of the Larry Fink masks - he’s the boss, and the person ultimately responsible for BlackRock’s failure to cancel Ghana’s unjust debt.

Right now, Ghana is trapped in unsustainable debt, with millions facing the ‘worst economic crisis in a generation’ [1]. But still, BlackRock is holding out for profit.

So today we called out their profiteering in a way they couldn’t ignore – by unloading wheelbarrows of fake cash onto their doorstep.

The need for action on the global debt crisis is becoming increasingly urgent. Just this week our latest research hit the headlines again - because lower-income countries are now facing the worst debt crisis in over 30 years. ([link removed]) Millions of people in countries like Ghana are being denied justice – because greedy lenders are refusing to cancel the debt.

That's why today we’ve been outside the BlackRock offices, refusing to stay silent while we stand in solidarity with people in Ghana and the 54 countries in debt crisis.

As we head towards a general election, it’s even more important for us to be making a noise about the debt crisis. That’s because 90% of the debts owed by lower-income countries to these greedy lenders are overseen by UK law – a new law here could force lenders like BlackRock to play ball.

Whether it’s in the press, outside the offices of financial giants like BlackRock, or by sending a clear message to party leaders ([link removed]) – we're making sure the debt crisis gets heard this election. Together we’ll win justice – and get debt cancelled.
