Dear John,
A new essay published by the Fraser Institute today documents the changing media landscape in Canada in recent years, and highlights why federal subsidies for the industry are bad policy.
So far, attempts to “save” this sector with government subsidies have not resulted in saving either reporter jobs or news organizations... and they haven't brought back former audiences, either.
The media, like any other business, continually evolves. And if the current players can’t do it, new ones will step in, so long as the government doesn’t get in their way.
Learn more here, and be sure to help us spread this news far and wide.
Sincerely,
Niels Veldhuis
President
