June may finally be full of sunshine and warm weather, but consider these feminist buzzkills on high alert: we’re on SCOTUS watch! Abortion Access Front will make sure you’re in the know as SCOTUS decides the future of access to the abortion medication mifepristone, and if EMTALA covers abortion care needed in emergency healthcare scenarios…which is all pretty fucking scary. So we’ll do the watching for you!
WHILE WE WAIT, of course, another Supreme Court is wilding out and of course it’s Texas, who unanimously rejected Zurawski v. Texas [[link removed]] , a case comprised of twenty women and two doctors arguing the state’s near-total abortion laws stopped them from getting medical care for their complicated pregnancies. The court ruled that only one plaintiff, a provider advocating for her patient to get the care she needed, had standing; now about all of the pregnant women who had traumatizing pregnancies worsened by the Texas abortion ban? “Who cares,” - Texas Supreme Court, probably.
We’re going to hear directly from the plaintiff, Amanda Zurawski, this Friday on Feminist Buzzkills [[link removed]] - you won’t want to miss it!

TEXAS: (DON'T) GIVE THEM ABORTIONS OR AND GIVE THEM DEATH!
Here’s one phrase that just doesn’t pass the anti-abortion sniff test: "equal protection for the preborn", which Texas conservatives have voted to adopt it into their party plank. Jessica Valenti laid out their cruel plans [[link removed]] and explained how this deceptive language means these conservatives actually support the death penalty for terminating your pregnancy! What says “the party of life” more than, uh, trying to put more people to death? Nothing to see here, folks.

TENNESSEE: AMERICA AT ITS MOST OPPRESSIVE
Despite banning abortion in their state, Tennessee electeds are going even further and have signed into law a bill [[link removed]] that treats those who assist a minor in obtaining an abortion across state lines AS CRIMINAL TRAFFICKERS. Of course, this is designed to criminalize abortion funds assisting patients who need abortions because, ya know, their state removed all of their options ! Once again, “the party of life” actually means “the party of forcing children to carry unwanted pregnancies”, but at least they’re being more upfront about it now.
