Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! This week I’m in Washington, D.C. for a week of votes and committee activity. Follow me on social media to see updates on what's happening in Congress and how I'm fighting to protect our conservative Kansas values. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov     The Week Ahead This week, the House is considering legislation to fund the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and some programs within the U.S. Department of Defense for Fiscal Year 2025. This appropriations legislation fully funds veterans' benefits and VA programs and bolsters our national security. It upholds the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer dollars from being used for abortion services, protects the 2nd Amendment rights of our nation's heroes, and prohibits the VA from processing medical care claims for illegal immigrants. Congress must pass legislation that supports our veterans and equips our active service members with the resources they need in a responsible, fiscally conservative manner while cutting wasteful spending on partisan wish lists. Also happening this week, the House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing to examine the weaponization of federal resources by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA has overstepped its authority and is acting as President Biden's campaign arm by registering voters online at official SBA events. With $200 billion of COVID lending fraud still unaccounted for, the SBA should focus on American small businesses, not elections. I made a commitment to Kansans in the Big First District to rein in the Biden Administration's abuse of power. President Biden's SBA must be held accountable for its actions that continue to impact the livelihoods of American small business owners. Read my Commitment to the Big First here. Meetings in the Office Kansas Farm Bureau National Grain and Feed Association U.S. Global Leadership Coalition - Kansas Scoular Mothers Against Drunk Driving     In the Office Protecting the Right to Life Every life, whether born or unborn, has value. As a father and member of the Values Action Team in Congress, I am proud to receive an A+ rating from Students for Life. I'm grateful for the students across the country who stand for the sanctity of life. They are paving the way as the pro-life generation, and because of their leadership, I know that our nation's brightest days are yet to come. The right to life is self-evident, and it must be protected at all costs. I will never stop fighting for the lives of unborn Americans. Click here to read about my work protecting the right to life. President Biden's Failed Electric Vehicle Agenda In 2021, the Biden Administration made American taxpayers foot the $7.5 billion bill for 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations through their partisan infrastructure bill. Two and a half years later, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation is touting that they've built only eight charging stations. I voted against President Biden's Green New Deal infrastructure legislation because it is a massive waste of taxpayer dollars, and now we're seeing the failed results. I will always work to advance pro-American energy policies and fight against overreaching policies that force Americans to pay for President Biden's progressive wishlist. Click here to read more. America's Skyrocketing National Debt Every corner of America is feeling the burden of the government’s out-of-control spending. Our national debt has exceeded more than $34 trillion, and for the first time interest payments on our debt have exceeded our total spending on our national defense and Medicare. Our government’s rate of spending is unsustainable. I promised Kansans in the Big First that I would fight to end Washington's spending addiction, balance the budget, and grow the economy. That's why I've voted against multiple continuing resolutions that recklessly spend taxpayer dollars and advocated to return to regular order and pass 12 individual appropriation bills prioritizing America's real needs. We must reduce and reprioritize federal spending to get America back on track. Read about the $514 billion in interest on national debt here. Read my Commitment to the Big First here. Recognizing Kansas Agricultural Producers during World Trade Month Last year, Kansas agricultural producers exported more than $4.64 billion in U.S. dollars to 99 countries across the world. American farmers can produce food more efficiently and effectively here than anywhere else in the world. Promoting agricultural trade directly benefits farmers, ranchers & agricultural producers in the Big First and around the country and is one of the many reasons I have fought so hard for a Farm Bill that incentivizes agricultural trade programs. I also support these programs as a fiscal conservative because we see a great return on investment for Americans. When we have robust trade programs that maintain America's food independence and invest tax dollars in places we can see a return on investment, both producers and consumers win. During World Trade Month, we recognized the value of investing in robust trade programs and the impact these programs have on the U.S. economy. We can and should continue to push for policies that help agriculture in America to thrive. In the News I'm grateful to receive the support of the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers for my work to reauthorize the Farm Bill. As the member of Congress for the Big First District, which ranks number one in congressional districts in wheat, beef, and sorghum production, my top priority is to deliver agricultural policy that reflects the needs of Kansas agricultural producers.
