Egale Canada was founded in 1986 in response to the critical need for increased rights and protections for 2SLGBTQI people. To this day, the fight for equality and human rights
for all 2SLGBTQI people continues to be increasingly complex due to the rise of anti-2SLGBTQI hate and the spreading of coordinated and targeted disinformation.
These growing complex issues require a complex solution – one we at Egale are prepared to assert with strategy, law, data, and our communities and allies by our side. Now the leading organization in Canada for 2SLGBTQI people and issues, we have broadened our areas of work to include four core pillars: Research, Education, Awareness, and Legal
Advocacy. Looking ahead - the 2024-2027 strategic plan outlines how our core pillars will inform one another and work together to help advance our vision of a Canada, and ultimately a world, without homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and all other forms of oppression and help us create societies and systems that reflect the universal truth that all persons are equal, and none is other. |
