As summer unfolds, it's shocking to realize we're almost halfway through the year. Here at the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), our commitment to our mission is unwavering. One of our most important goals is to empower the unhoused, helping them realize their full potential. Despite the misinformation that homelessness is a choice, the truth couldn't be further from that misconception. Many of the unhoused are individuals like you and me—people with jobs, families, and an unyielding spirit to persevere. They are striving to move from homelessness into secure homes.

Reflecting on ways to support these diverse individuals, our exceptional leadership team, including Donald Whitehead, the Executive Director of NCH, and Dr. Rajni Shankar-Brown, an internationally renowned Professor and Distinguished Chair of Social Justice Education at Stetson University and former President of the NCH Board, they envisioned the Lived Experience Training Academy (LETA). This professional certification program equips those who have experienced or are currently experiencing homelessness with invaluable technical skills to compete in the job market.
Launched in 2023, LETA has already made a significant impact. Over the past year, it has enrolled some of the most talented and determined individuals, providing them with the tools to transform their lives. In this newsletter, you'll discover more about LETA and the transformative change it brings. Thank you for joining us on this journey of empowerment and transformation. |
