Samuel --

Earlier this month, when the State Department decided that the Keystone XL
pipeline would not serve our national interest, I agreed. Now, some folks in
Congress were upset with that decision, because they had believed that the
pipeline would be a silver bullet for our economy. But that's just not
true, Samuel.

That said, if Congress is serious about wanting to create more jobs, I invite
them to consider passing a bipartisan infrastructure plan that, in the short term,
could create more than 30 times the number of jobs per year than the pipeline
would and, in the long run, benefit our economy and our workers for decades
to come. That's the thing that will make a difference in millions of Americans'
lives:

Unfortunately, right now, we've got a Congress that doesn't see it that way.

Our politics have been consumed for months with whether or not this pipeline
would create jobs -- but in the meantime, as a country, we've just gone ahead
and created jobs without it: In the last month alone, our businesses created
268,000 jobs. Over the past 68 months, our economy has created 13.5 million
private-sector jobs, and by the way, that's the longest streak on record. We've
also cut the unemployment rate in half from a high of 10 percent to just 5 percent.
That's the lowest it's been in seven years, Samuel, and we're not done:

Samuel, it's more important than ever that we elect Democrats to Congress next
year who will put people above politics. If you're ready to do whatever it takes
to make that happen, add your name and say you're in to win in 2016:

Thank you for this, Samuel. Democrats can't do it without you.
