Shape the Vision for Nottingham City Libraries

**Nottingham City Council faces a difficult situation and must make significant financial savings across its services. Nottingham City Libraries need to save £1.5 million over the next 2 years. This amounts to just over 38% of the library services' existing budget. It's a huge challenge, one that demands a change to how library services are delivered to the residents of Nottingham.**

We have launched a consultation to discuss the future of Nottingham City Libraries and potential changes to our services to achieve the necessary saving, which runs* to 19 August.*

Currently, Nottingham has 15 library buildings, including the brand-new Central Library. But in the face of these challenges, the Council is proposing significant changes. The proposal, subject to a 12 week public consultation would see a reduction in the number of libraries from 15 to 11. This would mean the closure of four libraries which have been identified as Aspley, Basford, Bilborough, and Radford-Lenton. The proposal also includes reducing opening hours across the network, putting forward staff reductions and lowering the amount we spend on books, IT and operating costs. The measures proposed are projected to save £1.5m, allowing the Council to deliver a sustainable library service.

Your feedback is crucial to ensure we make informed decisions that best serve the people of Nottingham and we welcome alternative suggestions to make the savings.
