Dear  john ,

I hope that you and your family are well and enjoying the beginning of summer. I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2024 – whether you just graduated or are preparing to do so next week, you should be incredibly proud of your achievements. If you plan to visit Washington, D.C., this summer, my office is happy to assist you with tickets and tours. It’s always a pleasure to welcome North Carolinians to our nation’s capital.

Verdict from a Kangaroo Court

The NYC trial of Donald Trump was pure lawfare, twisting the law and perverting our system of justice to go after one man in a manner that would make the Soviets blush.

The guilty verdict is a travesty for America. This was a rigged trial designed for one outcome: to 'Get Trump.' Leftists would rather shred the Constitution and destroy the rule of law than face Trump in a fair fight. Americans see through the farce.

The entire leftist establishment's policy is to go after President Trump any way they can, with the Constitution and the rule of law as a casualty of their latest witch hunt.

No one can say with certainty what crime they actually think President Trump committed – even experienced leftist legal analysts are tied up in knots attempting to explain this novel and convoluted legal theory. There's one reason for that - it's a political witch hunt.

Commemorating Memorial Day

I hope that you were able to take time last Monday to commemorate Memorial Day. It’s not just a day off from work – it’s a time for all of us to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. We should honor them and do our utmost to uphold the values they fought and died for, every day.

My team was able to attend commemorative events here in North Carolina, including the Vietnam Wall Ceremony at the NC Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial last Saturday and the Indian Trial Memorial Day ceremony on Monday. It was an honor for them to meet many of you, commemorate our fallen heroes, and hear the stories of those who served alongside them.

Staff from our D.C. office attended the National Memorial Day Concert, which is always a stirring tribute to our men and women in uniform.

If you are ever in Washington for Memorial Day, I recommend attending. Our fallen heroes deserve our respect and memory for more than just one day each year. Numerous months are devoted to specific causes and identities, but our fallen heroes are not currently among them.

That should change, and Senator Tommy Tuberville and I have introduced a resolution expressing support for an annual Presidential Proclamation affirming our eternal gratitude for members of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice and calls on Americans to remember and honor them throughout the month.

Lawless Lunacy

In a disturbing act late on Memorial Day, two currently unidentified vandals defaced the North Carolina State University Belltower with red and black graffiti.

This disturbing and cowardly act -- to illegally deface a memorial to the fallen as Memorial Day ended -- cannot go unpunished. You don’t have a right to desecrate public property, and I trust that those responsible will be apprehended and justice will be served. We must have a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of lawless action.

Congress returns to Washington this week, and I look forward to voting for the Safeguarding Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) when it comes to the floor, which will require proof of American citizenship to vote in federal elections.

This should be straightforward – and it’s more important than ever as thousands of illegals flood our border each day under the Biden invasion.

I'll also be questioning Attorney General Merrick Garland tomorrow morning in the Judiciary Committee. Make sure to tune in.
