John,
It's been nearly a week since we first joined the call for racial demographic data on the coronavirus. Since then, the federal government and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have yet to take action.
The few cities and states that have reported statistics on their own paint a dire picture. Black people are dying at a staggering rate -- and in many places, our share of the death rate is more than twice our share of the population. Let that sink in.
Every day that they wait to release this data is another day that Black lives are put at risk.
We need to protect ourselves and our loved ones -- and to do that, we have to know what we are up against. Sign the petition now and demand the government and the CDC release racial demographic data on the coronavirus.
Even though we are doing everything we can to make sure this data is released as soon possible --
there are some of us who can't afford to wait to get the help we need.
Black Lives Matter chapters across the country are working to provide immediate local mutual aid and assistance to those in need. These mutual aids provide resources, supplies, and services -- like grocery shopping, child care, and food delivery -- from local volunteers.
