“No. Never.”

That’s the answer I got yesterday from a voter I’d asked to support me.
His reason: “You have a consistent ‘F’ rating from the NRA.”

I’m proud to say he was right.

Gun violence receives little attention at the moment. But it’s a crisis we
cannot ignore—an epidemic that kills 40,000 Americans each year.

It’s also a key point of division in this race.

Cory Gardner has voted in lockstep with the National Rifle Association
throughout his career. With $4 million to show for it, Gardner is one of
the NRA’s biggest beneficiaries.

John Hickenlooper’s positions are more confusing. The former governor
blamed his staff for forcing him to sign a ban on high-capacity magazines,
suggested he might have changed his mind if he’d known the law would cause
so much “commotion,” and then claimed credit for leading the fight.

Colorado deserves better.

For my family and me, this crisis is not simply statistical—it’s
profoundly personal. We lost a loved one to gun violence in 2015.

So let me be clear: I will stand up to the gun
lobby and champion [ [link removed] ]measures to reduce the death toll. I have done
so—without apology—for more than 20 years, and I will continue to do so as
Colorado’s next senator.
