Read more MISSILE DEFENDER OF THE WEEK LIEUTENANT ROBERT C. CAMCIUC Lieutenant Robert C. Camciuc is the Fire Distribution Center Chief at Operations Center, 74th PATRIOT Regiment, Romanian Air Force. As the chief officer, Lt. Camciuc is responsible for mission readiness and effectiveness of air and missile defense operations. He oversees and manage high value military systems and coordinatinates the efforts of the Operations Center personnel and the communication links between fire units, battalion and higher echelons of command, all of this to ensure operation success and defence readiness. His leadership with devotion serves as a planning and execution tool, that directs the deployment and engagement of air defense, where he provides decisive command during engagements, manage threat assessments, target identification and engagement orders. The lieutenant is also responsible for the training and readiness of Fire Distribution Center personnel, ensuring they are proficient with the control systems and prepared for operation demands. Lieutenant Robert C. Camciuc was born in 1995 in city of Galati, Romania, raised in both the urban and the rural environment. From a young age, he has had an interest in technology, especially for rockets and computers. After graduating the military college, he chose to pursue a path in Missiles and Anti-Aircraft Artillery, joined the “Henri Coanda” Air Force Academy in Brasov in 2015, where he was among the first admitted to this specialization. Following his graduation from the academy and the Air Defence Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course, he was assigned in 2019 at the 74th PATRIOT Regiment in Mihai Bravu. In this unit, he was entrusted with several key roles in preparation for the arrival of Romania’s first PATRIOT battery, including head office of Missile and Radar Maintenance, head office of the Fuel and Lubricants, head department of Communications and Information Systems Maintenance and after the arrival it included Tactical Control Officer and Tactical Director. After graduating at the top spot of his class from 14EX PATRIOT course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, USA, he participated at the reception of Romania’s first PATRIOT battery and has been involved in various national and international courses, exercices and workgroups. He is the first officer in Romania to have led the Battery Engagement Operations for the first live-fire exercise with Romania’s first PATRIOT battery. Lieutenant Robert C. Camciuc is a passionate traveler who loves discovering new cultures and traditions. He iss an ex-high-performance competitive athlete in hockey, basketball and swimming. He continues to enjoy playing table tennis and chess in his leisure time. Nevertheless he is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Computer Science at the University of Bucharest. He is married to Diana C. Camciuc and resides in Bucharest.
