Hi Friend,
The United States Senate is scheduled to vote on the Right to Contraception Act this week, and I hope you’ll contact your senators to voice your support for this important piece of legislation. [[link removed]]
The Right to Contraception Act will enshrine a federal right for all Americans to obtain and use the contraceptives that best meet their needs. It will prohibit any requirement that impedes the acquisition or provision of contraceptives or contraception-related information. If enacted, this bill will apply to both the federal and state governments.
The benefits of contraceptives are clear: When people have the power to decide — for themselves — whether, when, and with whom to have children, everyone benefits. Access to contraceptives helps build stronger families, stronger communities, and stronger countries. It also opens up educational and economic opportunities for girls and women. And this, in turn, contributes to slowing global population growth. Hormonal birth control also treats a long list of health concerns, from acne to endometriosis to polycystic ovarian syndrome.
That’s why 99 percent of sexually active women in the United States use birth control at some point in their lives. And it’s why extremists in Congress and in state legislatures are intent on restricting, or even eliminating, access to contraceptives.
You and I both know that access to modern contraception is essential to an individual’s privacy, health, wellbeing, liberty, and equality. Please take a moment to contact your senators and urge them to vote “yes” on the Right to Contraception Act. [[link removed]]
Thank you for your support.
