Friends,
As the coronavirus continues to affect every aspect of our daily lives, it’s clear immigrant communities are particularly vulnerable.
Many immigrants are scared to seek out medical care for fear of deportation, have lost their jobs, can’t put food on the table, and don’t qualify for Federal relief.
That’s why the Oakland Undocumented Relief Fund (OUR Fund) is fighting to provide support to immigrant workers in Oakland who have lost their income as a result of COVID-19.
OUR Fund addresses a critical gap in our social safety net, ensuring undocumented immigrants receive the support they need -- especially since they’re blocked from receiving unemployment benefits.
OUR Fund has a goal to give mini-grants of $500 to $1,000 each to as many workers as they can. Now, they need our help to build up this life-changing fund to support immigrant communities during this difficult time.
If you’re financially able, can you donate $10 or more to OUR Fund to help immigrant families? For many undocumented workers, this type of relief is the only resource they have to sustain their family’s livelihood. Your donation is tax deductible.
Though this is an unprecedented and difficult time, we can protect the most vulnerable members of our community by working together.
In solidarity,
Barbara Lee
