Peggy Shepard, The Groundbreaker
Profiled as one of the Women Fighting to Save the World in Marie Claire's April 2020 Earth Day issue
As we prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, our world is struggling against a global pandemic, one that has disproportionately ravaged low-income communities and communities of color. But there is hope on the horizon, and we must start asking ourselves how we will emerge from this public health crisis.
Long before COVID-19, Marie Claire decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with a look at women who are leading the fight to save our planet from the ravages of climate change and environmental degradation. Peggy Shepard, our Co-Founder and Executive Director, is honored to be among the environmental leaders chosen, recognized as a "groundbreaker" and a "pioneer of the environmental justice movement and grassroots activism."
We encourage you to read the article ([link removed]) and find some inspiration for making a change in your community. This pandemic has exposed long-standing inequities in our society, and each of us must do our part to eradicate them. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day by joining us in our fight for environmental justice. Together, we can save this world.
