I can’t thank you enough for all of your support ahead over the past week, and throughout the campaign cycle. Supporters like you have always been at the core of my work, and it continues to be a great honor and responsibility – one which I never take for granted.

Every day that I’m in Congress, I strive to do what’s best for our communities. That is especially true as we kick off Pride Month, John. The reality is that in America today, discrimination persists in communities everywhere, and there is still no guarantee of equal rights and opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community.

John, America is strengthened by the diversity of our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors. We must reaffirm the fundamental truth that we are all equal and deserving of dignity, respect, and civil rights.

Yet, anti-LGBTQ+ extremists have introduced hundreds of discriminatory bills at the state level over the past year alone. From restrictions on gender-affirming care and personal pronouns, to the insidious effort to persecute trans Americans – especially children – this hateful agenda is gaining traction by the day.

I’m proud to have helped pass the Equality Act of 2021 in the House, which would finally provide explicit and comprehensive federal nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ Americans. This legislation is long overdue, and you can rest assured that I will continue to stand with the LGBTQ+ community to get this signed into law.

More challenges await us, but I’m ready to keep fighting for progress. Your support fuels this shared mission, and I look forward to everything we can accomplish together.
