John,
During a crisis, ethical, transparent leadership is more important than ever.
Unfortunately, we’re seeing the exact opposite right now. President Trump is declaring war on accountability, exactly when we need it most. His attacks on oversight, accountability, and transparency put our democracy itself at risk during a crisis moment when it is most vulnerable.
That’s why at CREW, we haven’t slowed down our work: we’re filing complaints, sounding the alarm, sending FOIA requests, advising Congress on policy reforms, and more.
If you’re able, please consider contributing now to help support our work. We couldn’t do this work without supporters like you stepping up, and a contribution right now will help us keep up the fight for accountability and democracy.
President Trump has been promoting an unproven drug as a potential coronavirus treatment--the same drug that a pharma-funded dark money group, headed by a Trump campaign donor, has been pushing as a treatment. Jared Kushner, whose qualifications to work in the White House are virtually nonexistent, is at the helm of a shadow coronavirus task force that appears to be violating federal laws, and which has reportedly added to confusion around the coronavirus response. President Trump has also been attacking watchdogs throughout the government, firing or removing independent inspectors general in favor of loyalists, and steamrolling the accountability measures in the CARES Act.
The Trump administration’s disregard for accountability is actively harming the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
We’ve been raising the alarm and working to counter the Trump administration’s corruption from the very start, but this crisis has made one thing very clear: there’s no end to President Trump’s corruption, and there are no steps he won’t take to avoid accountability.
That’s why we’ll continue to fight back, taking legal action, pushing for reform, and calling out his abuses, for as long as it takes. If you can, a contribution of any amount will help us continue the fight, no matter what.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
