Dear Striped Bass Stakeholders,

Tomorrow, Tuesday June 4 at 6:00PM, Maine Department of Marine Resources will be holding a public meeting to discuss recent Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Atlantic Striped Bass actions and industry questions. This is an open forum where DMR staff will provide updates on striped bass, including ways to be involved and what to expect moving forward towards the 2024 stock assessment. This is not a public hearing and no rule changes are being brought forward by DMR. This is an opportunity for an open dialog with striped bass stakeholders.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • Ways to get involved (research through MA DMF, UMaine, GMRI, and ME DMR)
  • 2023 Volunteer Logbook data
  • Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Addendum II to Amendment 7
  • 2023 state regulations in the Saco River
  • How temperature impacts striped bass, and
  • How Canada manages their striped bass stocks
