Hello friend,
In the last few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about those who matter most to
me. I am sure many of you have, too.
I am a New Yorker at heart, but my worry spreads from coast to coast. I worry
about my friends, family and all of you who are weathering this storm, around
the country and around the world. Through my conversations with my loved ones —
and with you at our Telephone Town Hall a few weeks ago — I have found that
everyone is feeling a similar sense of uneasiness about the current crisis. I am
feeling it, as well.
Yet, amid our uncertainty, I am seeing more of our humanity and resilience come
to life. And, for me, nowhere is that more true than through the tireless
dedication of our health care workers.
Doctors, nurses, medical providers and first responders are treating patients
with limited supplies. And the intrepid support and administrative staff members
by their sides show up every day to ensure this life-saving work continues.
These heroes are putting their lives on the line to save ours.
Let’s join together and thank them. Add your name to HRC’s thank you card and send your appreciation.

thousands — or even millions! — are in awe of their commitment and service to
others.
The LGBTQ community knows better than many how vital our brave health care
professionals are to protecting our lives and giving us a future. In the early
days of the AIDS epidemic, many health care workers were among our only allies
and took care of us when no one else would.
Many today are still fighting for us — through this global pandemic and beyond
it.

We depend on the health care community to provide essential, affirming care to
transgender people, to combat the health disparities experienced in the bisexual
community and to advocate for vulnerable youth and seniors.
As we note each year in the HRC Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI),
facilities across the country are becoming more inclusive to LGBTQ folks — and
many of the HEI LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader hospitals are on the front
lines of this pandemic.
I am deeply grateful for these heroes fighting COVID-19 and I know you are, too.
I have seen so many videos of people cheering on these workers when we need them
most — let signing this letter be another small way to show our gratitude. Sign on now!
