Bears Ears Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you with an urgent request to submit a comment in support of responsible, Tribally-informed management of the Bears Ears National Monument. As many of you know, the five Tribes – Hopi, Ute Indian, Ute Mountain Ute, Zuni, and Navajo Nation – making up the Bears Ears Commission, have worked tirelessly with federal partners to create a comprehensive Resource Management Plan (RMP) for this sacred landscape.

Why the Comment Period Matters

The draft RMP was released back in March, and the Tribes have recognized Alternative E as their preferred alternative. Tribal leaders agree that Alternative E closely aligns with Tribal values, includes Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, and is consistent with the presidential proclamations that established and then restored the Monument. This alternative reflects a holistic and sustainable approach to land management, furthering the innovative vision held by the Tribes’ since the beginning, balancing public access with the protection of cultural and natural resources. However, the Tribes’ work is far from over.

The public comment period ends on June 11, and we need your help to ensure that Alternative E is incorporated into the final plan for the management of the BENM.

Here’s how you can take action:

  1. Submit a Public Comment: Visit BearsEarsCoalition.org to learn more about Alternative E and the types of comments the agencies are interested in. Your voice matters, and your comments will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Bears Ears.

  2. Share the Information: Spread the word within your networks. Share the link to the public comment page on your social media platforms, and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to Take Action. Every comment counts!

  3. Connect with Us on Social Media: Follow the Bears Ears Coalition on social media for updates and information. Like, share, and comment on our posts to increase visibility and awareness.

Change Happens Together

By supporting Alternative E, you are helping to protect a place of immense natural, historical, cultural, and spiritual significance.

With 8 days left until the public comment period closes, your immediate action is critical. Please join us in this unprecedented mission to safeguard Bears Ears National Monument for current and future generations.

Thank you for your support and dedication to protecting the Tribes’ ancestral homelands and this beautiful landscape.
