Last month we sent out an urgent appeal, highlighting the devastation nickel mining would cause to the uncontacted Hongana Manyawa – and Wow! did you rise to the challenge!

20,000 of you have now sent emails to mining companies and electric car manufacturers, urging them to take a stand against destroying the tribe's lands and future. You also raised an incredible £32,000/ $40,000 for our campaigns during the appeal.

Now, we've learnt some really exciting news: Just over a week ago, Tesla announced they are exploring the need to establish a no-go zone for mining to protect the land of uncontacted Indigenous peoples. The company made it clear that it expects suppliers to get genuine agreement - that is “Free, Prior and Informed Consent” - from Indigenous communities before extracting any resources from the ground.

For the uncontacted Hongana Manyawa, saving their forests from the miners is the only option for their survival. They're continuing to resist, and we're standing with them.
