Hi Friend –

Extremist state Senate Republicans have revealed their true priorities yet again. The Senate passed a controversial package of tax cuts that will benefit the ultra-wealthy and ignore the needs of every day Pennsylvanians. They even voted down amendments to try to add tax breaks for the lowest earners. 1

This is outrageous. Working families in Pennsylvania pay among the highest state and local tax rates in the country, but the state’s ultra-rich pay less than half those rates. And greedy multinational corporations pay Pennsylvania no corporate taxes at all.

Friend, every Pennsylvanian, no matter where we were born, where we live, what we look like, or how much we have, should pay our fair share so we can all thrive.

Unless we change who represents us in the Senate, we’re going to keep fighting attacks like this over and over. Can you chip in $20.00 or more to help us win the seats we need to put the state Senate in pro-environment hands so that we can pass a budget and other critical policies that prioritize all Pennsylvanians? Earlier this year, Governor Shapiro proposed a budget that would invest in education, community development, energy efficiency, and public transit. It also tackles critical issues like housing, gun violence, teacher recruitment, higher education costs, and medical debt. The Governor’s budget would significantly improve the quality of life for people in all corners of Pennsylvania by increasing the minimum wage and adequately funding our public schools.

Instead, Senate Republicans have chosen to cater to their wealthy donors. Their proposed tax cuts will disproportionately benefit the richest Pennsylvanians while leaving working families to struggle. Because wealthy corporations and the ultra-rich don’t pay what they owe, our state lacks the resources to provide all Pennsylvanians with an opportunity to benefit from their own hard work and contribute to their communities.

We need to hold these elected officials accountable by finally putting the state Senate in pro-environment hands. We flipped the State House in 2022, and if we can flip the Senate, we can pass meaningful policy that will benefit all Pennsylvanians.

Friend, can you chip in $20.00 today to help fund our election work to support pro-environment candidates and take back the state Senate: [link removed]

Governor Shapiro and the House of Representatives are fighting for bipartisan solutions like community solar legislation and the Whole-Home Repairs Program, which will lower energy costs and create jobs. These initiatives are now stalled in the Senate, blocked by those who prioritize their own interests over those of their constituents.

We’ve seen this play out before. A decade ago, Republicans passed severe cuts to public schools and essential services, and it led to high unemployment and economic instability. Now, they’re trying to dip into the Rainy Day Fund for their own ends while neglecting the needs of our communities.

We must begin working now to ensure our challengers are prepared to win their races: [link removed] We’ve endorsed our first slate of candidates and are excited to be backing a class of passionate, smart, and experienced challengers. Now we need to get them elected.

Your contribution, whether big or small, will make a real impact.

Thank you for standing with us,
